Our History

Mary Gilliatt & Sandra Hambley,
Aix En Provence

In 2003, after leaving a successful corporate career in Supply Chain Management, Sandra and many of her team studied advanced design concepts in the US and France with internationally acclaimed author and designer Mary Gilliatt. This exceptional opportunity laid the groundwork for developing and perfecting a streamlined and customized approach to the industry of interior design. To integrate design with building knowledge, Sandra became a licensed Class A Contractor in Virginia. “My unique skill set enables me to research and source international materials and supplies while managing custom projects, all while balancing creativity, timelines and budgets.”

Philosophy

Our philosophy on interiors is creating beauty that a homeowner appreciates for hours at a time, while thrilling guests with lasting impressions.  It is a place where you cannot wait to arrive and are always saddened to leave. A home that is comfortable, yet unforgettable, facilitates the creation of memories for families and friends.

Key to Team Success

Sandra Hambley
Founded Signature Design
Interiors in 2003

Balancing vision and execution requires agility, tenacity and consistency when living each project as though it could be the last. A successfully designed interior achieves greatness when a team is invested in creating perfection. It delicately weaves design elements from history, while pushing the boundaries of unseen possibility today.

Design Approach

Our first step is understanding what we will help to create with clients. Every project has its own journey. We take a holistic approach to bring vision to life, which starts with a collaborative process of creative discovery. We uncover and set aesthetic by integrating the architectural elements, soft decor and furnishings. We have designed classic, transitional and contemporary spaces.

Project Management

Managing schedules, budgets and suppliers is equally as important as the design. Regular updates to all stakeholders requires proactivity and discipline of processes and procedures.
