Our clients envisioned this room as elegant with an updated classic style. The inspirational room elements included an ornate mirror and an area rug, which was a wedding present. While beautiful quality, the primary mauve color in the rug was not necessarily the color they planned for the room. Pulling accent colors from the rug, we selected ivory and blue upholstery for a loveseat and accent chairs, both with classic details. Adding custom draperies in a blue and cream updated floral pattern, designed with a heavier fabric to act as a noise buffer, perfectly complemented the other textiles. The finishing touch was a piece of art painted in rich colors by Madhu Wangu, the homeowner’s mother, which creates an expanded canvas on the wall with the wood tones of the guitars mounted beside it.
