It’s that time again when color experts are announcing their top color selections for the coming year.  Earlier this Fall, we reported Sherwin William’s pick of Poised Taupe a combination of earthy brown and conservative gray. Recently we learned that Benjamin Moore and PPG Pittsburg Paints both chose shades of purple for their Color of the Year, Shadow and Violet Verbena respectively. The two are very different, though both firms noted their decision was based on their hue’s ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia. Benjamin Moore’s Shadow is a rich amethyst with the ability to reinforce shadow and light.  When……

Some of the most exciting decorating projects begin with a home that’s a blank slate. In this particular instance, our client was moving from London to DC into a historic row house; he wasn’t bringing any of his existing furnishings and he was hoping to have the whole house furnished in just a few months.  We told him we’d love to help! Many parts of the home featured gorgeous exposed brick walls and we wanted to feature and compliment them artfully. As you look at the photos you will see the brick walls acting as beautiful backdrops and focal points and……

'Twas the Months Before Christmas

 'Twas the night before Christmas and what a relief;

The house looked just gorgeous -- beyond all belief!

For at the beginning of September, in a moment inspired

They decided the gift that they mostly desired

Would not be more clothes or a vacation in Rome

But rather the joy of a refurbished home.
