Katie’s ultimate goal is to learn as much about her client and the way the room is to be used as possible so she can create a design that fulfills both practical and budgetary needs, beautifully. She believes that finishing, distinguishing details are keys to completing a successful room design. Her designs reflect novel concepts that make her rooms not only well designed, but also remembered by all who see them.

As a military spouse, Katie spent many years raising her two little girls while living all over the United States—from California to Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest to here in the Washington, DC metro area. A native of Northern California, with a BA in American History from the University of California at Davis, Katie has discovered that the East Coast, and particularly Virginia, is where she and her family are most comfortable; now permanently settled in Northern Virginia.

Katie enjoys digging in the dirt of her perennial garden, and nothing brings her more joy that harvesting an armload of blooms to arrange. Being the mother of two active teenagers, Katie drives them all over the Metro area, and tries to manage both her schedule…and theirs. She is actually looking forward to the girls earning their driver’s licenses!

In the summertime, the whole family finds great release and respite at their beach home in Ocean City, NJ, where we enjoy building sandcastles, long beach bike rides, and just “unplugging.”
